Family Campers - Avoid
Pros: Beautiful area
Cons: Flooded sites, poor customer service, only one place with flushable toilets, they charge you to use the showers, staff belongs on set of Deliverance.
After we checked in and saw our flooded site, we immediately went back and asked for another. To be fair, they let us pick any that was available, but that's not saying much, as they were all flooded and there were few places to pitch a tent where you weren't at least ankle-deep in mud. So, when I asked for a refund (less than 15 minutes after I paid), I was told that it was not negotiable. "What do you want me to do? I'm not God", I was told by the nice lady behind the counter. No kidding.
In all fairness, if you want to go out to the woods and get wasted, this is the place for you. If you have kids and want them to enjoy nature, there are plenty of other nice parks in the area that I'd pick over this one.
Chalk this up as a learning experience, I'm sticking to the state parks from now on.
